01 Mar Living Peace Projects launches Yamuna clean-up and restoration program
Living Peace Projects Foundation (LPP) has launched a major riverbank clean-up and water restoration initiative in Mathura and Vrindavan, marking an important step in its mission to improve access to clean water and create lasting environmental awareness in the Braj region.
More than 120 students from Pathways World School, Gurugram, and Kanha Makhan School, Mathura-Vrindavan, took part in the first Yamuna riverbank clean-up, alongside local authorities and LPP representatives. The initiative places young people at the heart of protecting India’s precious water resources.
As part of the programme, LPP has also entered into agreements with Mathura Vrindavan Nagar Nigam (MVNN) for two sites where educational Living Water Cycle Buildings will be developed. These facilities will provide purified drinking water, treated bathing facilities and education about sustainable water management.
The programme also includes the restoration and purification of historic sacred water bodies, including Patit Pawan Kund and Pema Kund, in cooperation with the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad.
The Mathura-Vrindavan programme forms part of LPP’s wider ambition to impact 10 million lives through clean-water projects, combining water infrastructure, ecological restoration and education to create sustainable, long-term change.
